Nursery rhymes..

I have downloaded some nursery rhymes (Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes) and children songs. Now, my Ipod plays nursery rhymes most of the time!

What a big change!

My contented baby...

Jinc is such a little contented baby. He sleeps so well at night when he has a full tummy, and some afternoons too.

I love holding him to my chest and let him fall asleep on my chest. I love smelling his hair and his skin, then I will look at his beautiful black long eye lashes. His little nose, his soft little ears still with some fine hair along the side of his ear... his chubby cheeks, his tight-closing lips and his smooth fine hair...Oh, my baby is perfect!

I wonder, will he still want to fall asleep on my chest when he is a bit older?

Ironically, I want him to grow up quickly, so that we can talk, joke and enjoy outings together. On another thought, I want him to be my baby forever. Yes, he is going to be my little baby, forever ever and ever!

OMG! OMG!

Yesterday, I did the stupidest thing in my entire life. I was clipping Jinc's finger nails, and I carelessly clipped his skin on his fourth finger of his left hand. He was screaming in pain, and his finger was bleeding. I panicked and did not know what to do. I cried too and kept saying sorry while comforting him..I carried him and ran upstairs to Sugar who was still asleep and then Sugar comforted Jinc. Sugar said it was ok, and kept telling Jinc that it was ok...I was crying with guilt and then I rubbed his finger with some cream and cuddled him loads, he stopped crying. By evening, he seemed so well and totally forgot about the pain. He played happily, smiling and cooing.

Today, I still feel terrible. How could I, oh dear!!His finger is Ok now!! I am, kinda having a phobia clipping his nails.

Update, 2 months old

Jinc is now eight weeks old. Yesterday, we brought him to his very first immunisation and went through his two-month health check.

He had two injections, one was DTaP/ IPV/ Hib to protect against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio and Haemophilus InfluenzaType B. The other injection was PCV to protect against pneumococcal infection.

He was such a strong baby. He was not crying a bit on the first jab. Immediately after the first one, he was given another jab on another thigh, then he started to cry a bit. I was really surprised, as I had expected him to scream on top of his lungs! Both Sugar and I were really impressed, and we just could not stop praising him!

As for his two-month health check, he is perfectly fine, and he is our perfect little boy!

Now, at two months old, he is able to lift his head and shoulder when I put him to his tummy. He can now follow objects and gurgling and cooing a lot more compare to when he was one month old. He smiles a lot especially when he woke up in the morning and saw my face. Every time he smiles, my heart melts. It is all worth it when I think about how tough it was during the first two weeks after he was born! His movement become smoother, and he can now stare and play with mobiles for nearly an hour when I put him to his bouncer chair. He is able to entertain himself now as he discovers his own hands and fingers.

He starts to recognise our faces and voices. When he is hungry and crying for milk, I would show him his bottle full of milk while calling out 'milk-milk', he will turn and stare at me, and stop crying immediately.

Jinc weighs 5kg (11.02Ib) now. He is having 5-6ounces during each feed and can now sleep up to five hours during the night. I am so pleased now as I am finally getting some good night's sleep. He is having shorter naps and plays more. He outgrows most of his newborn clothing. All his newborn bibs are now becoming too small for him. His nappy size is one size up now. He is also having new set of teats, size 2 now on his bottles.

When most experienced mums told me how quickly their babies grow up, I would listen with envy. Today, I am a mum who just cannot believe how quickly her little newborn has grown and is no longer the wriggly newborn....

Life after (the baby is born)...

no more late night movies, but late night feedings..and night feedings with broken sleeps..
no more long showers, but a 10-minute shower that feels like luxury...
no more lie-ins, but afternoon naps are bonuses!
no more random shoe-shopping on any shopping trips, but nappy shopping is essential..

Having a baby does change our lives...I have never expected the changes to be so massive. Life is just so different now, and we are moving to an entire different stage of life now. Parenthood is simply wonderful, every day is a challenge, and every day is fill with happiness...

The very 'first'...

A baby will go through many first times through out his growing up stage. Baby Jinc has got his very first cold since yesterday. I suspect he gets it from me, because I got a cold few days ago, the worse thing is that it is not 100% clear now, and I just can not avoid spreading this to him.

I am feeling so upset with this. Brought him to our GP this morning, and everything seems ok, except that he has blocked nose which made his breathing sounds louder than usual. I feel worry but the GP assured us that this is very common and nothing to be worried about. He has checked that baby Jinc has clear chest and no temperature. However, he is given paracetamol, just in case he has a raise temperature during the night....

No good, no good. I am feeling his discomforts and I feel so sorry for my baby :(

Newborn portraits..

We had a photo shoot about two weeks ago. I wanted this to be done so that it will last me a lifetime of memory. Jinc is growing up fast every day. Soon, he will no longer be our newborn. In fact, at 6 weeks old today, i could feel that he is growing up too quickly, he outgrows most of his new born sleepsuits, and his nappy size is moving up to a size bigger now...

Still receiving lots of baby gifts...

Although baby Jinc is more than one month old now, we are still getting gifts from friends. I feel so happy that baby Jinc has got so many 'fans' out there!

I have also created thank you cards using the baby photos to be sent out to all our dear friends who are so kind and generous with all the lovely gifts.

We went out yesterday with the baby to see some friends and baby Jinc was so well-behaved and it made me want to bring him out more now. I guess I am getting quite comfortable to bring Jinc out, as he will sleep most of the time when we are out.

Baby Jinc and I are due to the 8-week post natal check in two weeks time, and after that, we will be officially discharge from the maternity care. I just can't stop saying how time passes quickly. It is just like yesterday that I went to labour and had Jinc....

Oh baby...

Baby Jinc is my world now..
I love him more and more each day, and words just cannot describe my job as a new mum..
I am grateful, for having a healthy and cute baby..and a very understanding husband,
I am blessed with a beautiful baby, and have all the love in the world!

Life is, simply wonderful at this moment! I am loving every minute of it!

Bliss~

Oh, I am getting so used to my life as a mum now. A messy room, lack of time to tidy up the house, overload laundry and the broken sleeps. I believe, as time goes by, things will get better.

Yesterday evening, after I fed baby Jinc, winded him and got him lie on my chest cosily while I sat on the couch, watching Sex And The City on the telly. I really enjoyed our quiet time like this. While enjoying the show, holding Jinc so close to me and breathing his baby smell, i felt like i was in heaven!

Baby Jinc is the best thing that ever happened to me!!!

Growth spurts

I think baby Jinc is going through a growth spurt. He is becoming really demanding when it comes to feeding. He is hungry all the time and cries so much when he is sleeping. It is a good sign that he is growing well, and that makes me a really happy mum !!

My love for him grows stronger and stronger each day. Sometimes, I can just sit beside his crib and stare at him for hours when he is asleep. He is such a gorgeous looking little baby, and I just can't take my eyes off him!

Baby traditions : Chinese Full Moon

Baby Jinc is now one month old!!

For Chinese, when a baby turns one month old, a ceremony is held to celebrate his full moon. This is also mean that I have come to an end of my confinement period.

Here, we do not have a big celebration, however, we boiled red eggs and distributed to friends. We received lots of well wishes and wonderful gifts. Now, it is time for me to sort out thank you cards!

Time flies...

It is exactly 4 weeks now since Jinc is born. He is four weeks old now. He sleeps well through the night, and feeds better compared to two weeks ago. I am so please.

He is growing every day, and sometimes, holding him in my arms to sleep is so so nice. The baby smell, the softness of the skin, the hair...I would think, this won't last long until he goes to bed on his own.

This is so amazing, we made a baby!

Clingy Baby..

My little baby is very clingy. I hardly have time to sit down and do my own things. He needs cuddle all the time!

I wish I can post more on this blog, about my thoughts and some early parenthood anxieties. Unfortunately, I do not get much time to sit down in front of my computer. I hope this won't be going on for too long...

I hope when Jinc is 4-6 weeks old, he will sleep more during the night. I am still not getting enough sleep at this stage. I am already getting used to it! It is hard work for new mum... Sometimes I do wish my mum is around to help me, at least.....

Jinc is three weeks now..

Jinc is already three weeks old with me at home now..
How time flies, my love for him is deeper everyday...
I love my baby, and until today, I still cannot believe that I am a mummy!

Baby has diarrhoe and nappy rash....

Just when I thought I won't be feeling tearful anymore, Jinc has got diarrhoea since last night and he has been very grumpy. We even canceled his photo shoot appointment today.

As Sugar left for work, I tried to take a deep breath and assure myself that things will be fine. It is just me and the baby, and hey, I should enjoy the moment, not dread it!

So, here I am, feeling really content after a big evening feed, and he sleeps soundly in his cot. I can have some me-time, and it is dinner time too.

Jinc's diarrhoea has gone. I am so pleased with it. He is no longer grumpy, but a little happy and content baby. I just can't stop kissing him. Such a darling!

Yes, I am coping well, I guess the baby blues have gone.....Oh, yes, his nappy rash isnt something serious, just some red bottom and it is healing, I am changing his nappies as soon as they get soiled and I am also wiping his bottom with cotton wool and warm water, instead of the convenient baby wipes...Oh, such hard work.

I am loving every moment of being a new mum. I have to keep reminding myself that Jinc is such an angel, and I should be very very grateful...

Hardly ever have time....

Baby Jinc is 13 days old now.

I am still coping as a new mum, learning his pattern, and as for Jinc, he is also at this learning stage. We are both learning and getting to know each other better. This is not easy. I get panic easily when Jinc started to cry. Then I would be checking whether he needs a nappy change, a feed, or just a cuddle. When this goes on like every hour, you can go insane!!!

I guess this is the fun part of being a new mum. More fun moments to look forward to, i guess...

I can only do quick post these days...Jinc is very clingy and I am loving it!

Facebooking is great. So many well wishes from friends all over the world. I feel overwhelmed, not to mention many advice flooded in by other mum friends too. I feel very good to be able to talk motherhood and parenting with friends who have young children... We are all learning..
